I drew at Org: Internationalia at Cloud Club on Saturday night. It was a magical evening of music and performance that couldn't be spoiled, not even by the cops popping by (twice). Nope. <3<3
The cats supervised my inking of the Michael J. Epstein Memorial Library Art Collaboration illustration piece, "Stranger," today. Read more about this awesome project here. I'm recording my inking and coloring process so that I can make a video of it later on. ALL of my cats hung around the drawing desk today. Lucy was especially desiring attention and asked me for an interview. She's a chatty one.
And dinner video for fun...
Bent Knee is on their west coast tour right now and just had their first show in San Jose last night. If you be a westcoaster near their tour cities' - check this amazing band out. They are a delightful bunch that are so invested in music and it shows with such sincerity, fun and sheer talent in their live performances. They truly rock.
I was asked to make some illustrations based on Bent Knee's lyrics for them to have as prints for sale on tour. I'm elated to be able to collaborate with such incredible musicians and bring imagery to their beautiful songs. I chose "Styrofoam Heart," "Little Specks of Calcium," and "Urban Circus" for my first round of drawings and worked with Courtney Swain, who sings, plays keys and writes the lyrics for the band, to produce the most searing imagery to match the lyrics.
Styrofoam Heart I recorded myself inking and coloring "Styrofoam Heart" and made a video with the song. The drawing process is sped up 800x so you don't have to watch me draw for an hour- just the length of the song. :)
This Thursday I'll be at the Estate in Boston at the RAW ART RADIANCE Showcase. Raw is a collective of artists, photographers, musicians, fashion designers and more and there's a local chapter in every major US city and Australia. This is my first showcase and there will be a lot of awesome local artists, designers and photographers (including the wondeful Raw Alum and friend, Matt Bernson) showing along with me. I will have some originals up for sale, some new items.
"Spectrum Disorder" will be one of the framed originals for sale at the show along with several other works
You can purchase tickets ($10) online to support me until 8pm tonight - just select my name on the drop down instead of General Admission, after tonight you can drop me a line to save $5 on the door cost ($15) with out having to deal with all this online hoopla.
I also made this headdress to wear that night with my new half mint green, half milk chocolate brown wig. Eee! So excited!
