crafty!
Last week I was at the Stars and Skulls Crafty Craft Fair. I've been a bit lazy in my last full week of work before the holiday so I haven't been in the studio to blog about it. Anyway, I sold a haul and I got a haul of cool handmade things from around the fair including two pretty pairs of Karen's lovely handmade leafy earrings, some sweet zines from the Trees and Hills and other delights from around the fair. I drew some portraits- including the one above, which was for some of the members of the Roller Derby that helped put the show on. It was so much fun, patrons were sweet and supportive, vendors were creative as ever and it was SNOWY! :)
In other news- I was included in a Zombie Feature on DA.

My friend Nick finished editing our horror film project from Film III in art school that we shot five years ago! It's pretty priceless. Our class had a lot of fun shooting this project. I did storyboards and documented and helped with shooting. I also was Denise's assistant and cleaned her up after the puke scene. We shot this film on 16mm film with an Arriflex camera in 2004... oh and Bacon King Bacon is the best.

This past weekend Blake and I attended the New York Anime Festival in the artist's alley and we had great time and met up with lots of cool people both new and known. I drew around 50-60 portraits (I forgot to tally a few of them), sold a few of my spankin' new prints and a lot of perler bead jewelry. The very complimentary and kind Jorge Solis of Fangoria stopped to talk to me a little bit, as well as a lawyer who was looking for a copyright job and showed me his resume (turns out he was a contestant on Beauty and the Geek and mentioned so on the bottom of his resume).
Afro and I... he's so mighty, he blurred the picture.
Amazingly enough I forgot to take pictures at the convention, even of my booth. I did get one on out way out of the convention on Saturday night (with Afro Samurai) and a few of the very famous and affordable hotel we stayed in.
Shout outs to all who stopped by and said "hi," and/or made a purchase or two!

This past weekend Blake and I attended Connecticon 2009! It's been a LONG time since I've been to Connecticon, I may have attended the first one in New Haven at a college. This time it was in Hartford at a convention center.
I met quite a few awesome people this time around, where as at AB, I never put down my pencil long enough to truly talk to other artists (as well as being flanked by empty tables). This time I had awesome neighbors, Machine Gun Angel and Loki-Chan's Ducks.
Andrei-818 asked me to draw in his two jam sketchbooks. One was a free style and one was of the theme: twins with glasses and turtle-neck sweaters.
I drew my Zombie Princess for the free draw and my conjoined twin characters Daisy and Rose for the twins. :)
My two favorite commissions where of dogs. Both con-goers commissioned multiple portraits and their final ones being of their dogs. The first was for this guy who was super awesome and had me draw him with his Filipino Hello Kitty McDonald's toy. Apparently in Asia all the McDonald's toys are really hi-quality and BIG. Then he had me do a picture of his pit bulls (but i forgot to take a photo). Another con-goer, who got multiple works done, commissioned a portrait of her beautiful tiger-striped Boston Terrier who she got some sad news about. I put all my love into this portrait and hope the best for her and her dog.
Over all, we had an exhausting, but really fun time making new friends, hanging with old ones and gawking at cosplayers. :)
