This past weekend of extreme nerdism was at Connecticon in Hartford, Connecticut and marked my third year as a vendor (and fourth year as an attendee!). Naturally fun was to be had all around. Portraits, sketchbook passing, ADD conversations with friends and customers- A pleasant end to this summers Con Crazy tour! Thanks to all those who stopped by and said "Hello," got drawn or drew for me... If only Connecticon 2012 wasn't 12 months away...

Anime Next

sounds like: *purrrrrr*

Blake, Chris and I drove five hours in a thunder storm to Somerset, New Jersey this past weekend for Anime Next. We've never been to a convention further than New York City, so this was exciting new territory. The Otaku of New Jersey were very kind to us and it was refreshing to be amongst such an energetic and positive mass of fellow nerds. We sold out of our first batch of Lake Monster plushes, a good amount of skeleton t-shirts and A LOT of prints - THANK YOU. I also premiered some fan art ACEOs and did a few custom ACEOS.

During the lulls, I worked on this lovely Steampunk badge design for Connecticon 2011 (totally inspired by Miss Jojo Lazar).

and we saw UZUHI again!

MECAF*11

The Maine Comic Arts Festival is one of the nicest, little conventions you'll ever attend or vend at. The people of Maine are very sweet, accommodating and interested in art. I was really happy to come back this year and bring along my friend and hip artist Cat to get her infected with the MECAF bug.

AB'11

I just concluded my third year in the Artist Alley at Anime Boston and I am whiped out. I drew around 50 portraits this past weekend and now my southpaw is as tender as a new born child, but as always it was well worth it and totally a blast. It was very satisfying to hear that getting a portrait drawn from me is turning into a many con-goers tradition and it was great to see lots of familiar faces and friends!

In addition to drawing up a small cyclone and getting my nerd on hardcore, I scored this sweet oil painting of Godzilla from Matt Matt who also drew a nice portrait of me (which I will be scanning later). In return I'll be drawing up a storm of commissions for him, but got the ball rolling with a demonic Matt portrait!

Thanks to all who stopped by and got portraits done (and special thanks to Calvin Falk and his friends and family for commissioning the most portraits from me this year - "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY") and extra thanks to friends Kelsey Rae and CT for lending me some of their table- without them I would have missed out on the Artist Alley this year (thanks to relocating to Boston and AA sign ups a whole three months early). I can't wait for next year! I have a lot more conventions coming up for this season- next up is the Maine Comic Arts Festival in Portland! See you there!

Ccon-plete

Connecticon is over! I had a BLAST. I expanded my table set up (see last years), and had way more items for sale this time around. I sold out of t-shirts, so we'll be printing more in the future. I drew around fifty portraits- a lot of large group ones! I had some table frequenters (which I adore) so many thanks to fantastic Veronica, the L-like cat boy and his lady, the Chii girls, the vampire girl, boy and crew, and this lovely teacakery who bought a whole bunch of stuff, commissioned me and then blogged about it. :D It was good to hang with my usual con crew and see Inky (who traded me her beautiful buttons and stickers) and Andrei (who drew me as a zombie mermaid)!

Dan Coffey of Connecticut won the Zombie Romance Super Pack! I was amazed by the number of people who entered (including the trio of eccentric, little girls who entered as many times as they could before I was going to draw the raffle). In addition to asking for contact information on the entry slips, I asked:

Do you like zombies?

Most people naturally said yes ;) - but here were some of the more creative answers:
RE: Your Brains. They make great pets. Who doesn't? Brains are better. Yes, Please! If I were one, yes. Brains! They should die. I LOVE THEM. I <3 brains. Very much so, unless they are trying to eat my brains. Bwains? Werd! Of course- "brains." Playgirl. Yes, on the business end of a shot gun. Not on my lawn. IDK. OMG YERSH OF COURSE MEOW! I am a zombie. B zombies. Only when they're comin' up the hell right now. Like... "like" zombies? Rawr BRAINS! Sorta. I am ONE... OMNOMNOM! Of Course- how could you not? Especially the bloody ones! No- I will shoot them! Only when they are eating the flesh of the living. With pleasure. Zombies are my favorite. Some more than others. In the school play I was a zombie, now my friends call me one. Hellz yes!

Here's hoping Chris and Dustin won the photo scavenger hunt.

Another successful year at Anime Boston! Thanks to all who came out to our booth. I was sitting with my darling Blake of the Others and the lovely Cat Craig. It was awesome to see familiar faces from last year and hang out with good friends. I drew over 70 portraits and was elated by all the kind words and positive energy flowing from the congoers. I really appreciate the enthusiasm of all those who stopped by! Thanks! Cat and I did some wicked collaborations and Chris took some great photos of the booth!
